Where's Floyd?
When I ordered my 12-hour, 6-DVD set of the 2006 Tour de France the other day, I was given the option of ordering Graham Watson's 2007 calendar at a discounted price. I am a sucker for calendars, and Graham Watson's as good of a cycling photographer as they come, and so I went for it.
The package arrived, and when I finally got home today after the most boring day of work I've experienced in months, I opened it excitedly. However, as I flipped through the calendar's pages and examined the photos, I was disappointed that there was not one photo in which Floyd Landis is featured.
I may have found him in a shot of three riders from behind, but it's definitely not a recognizable picture. While I can understand wanting to shy away from controversy, why not include a picture from the Tour of California or the Tour de Georgia or Paris-Nice? These were races won without major controversy, and to exclude Floyd entirely from the calendar seems a bit over the top. After all, it seems that Watson is pretending Floyd doesn't exist, and yet he was undoubtedly the biggest story in cycling this year.
I'll hang the calendar in my office, as I'm not that much of an idealist, but I'm disappointed that not a single picture of Floyd was included. He did a lot this year outside of the Tour de France, and he deserves to be recognized, not ignored.
Maybe I'll just make my own calendar.

Unbelievable! I'd have thought he'd have a podium shot, or even a group when he was with others. I think you should write to Graham Watson!
oh, and when can we watch the DVD?
